How it works
Material: Special aluminium alloy with high silicon and titanium content, which ensures exceptional deformation resistance even at high temperatures.
Heat treatment: Special soaking and stabilisation process for increased material strength to ensure that the mechanical and size specifications remain unchanged up to 250°C.
Computer-controlled machining: Executed on NC machining centres with extremely limited size and shape tolerances (roundness, verticality).
Running surface coating: Using nickel-based silicon carbide with heat treatment, which ensures extreme hardness (around 600 HVO, 1/5) and outstanding wear resistance.
Running surface machining: using special machines that ensure a high degree of perfection of the running surface, the roughness of which corresponds to the angles defined in the design phase (grinding process with special grinding stone): Drawn and manufactured specifically for racing purposes. The determination of the flow and exhaust diagrams was carried out with considerable effort by our engineers both on the test bench and on the race tracks where the Trophy takes place.
PISTONS
Material: Special aluminium alloy with very high silicon and titanium content, which ensures both high heat resistance and deformation resistance.
Outer coating: Graphite coating with very low coefficient of friction.
Structure: Reinforced design to withstand the stresses of a cylinder unit in high-performance racing while keeping the weight low to reduce inertia.
PISTON RINGS
Piston rings in very strong grey cast iron with coating, wear-resistant, hard chrome-plated.
HEAD
A racing engine is exposed to extremely high loads due to high speeds and temperatures. The two-piece cylinder head for water-cooled engines was developed precisely for these loads.
It consists of a silicon coated spherical cap which is mounted directly on the cylinder. The design guarantees analogue expansion to the cylinder. This spherical cap is surrounded by a water-cooled cylinder head with a large volume. Over the years, data and values on the optimum combustion behaviour of a cylinder head have been collected in the Scooter Speed Trophy. The result is now available with the Modular cylinder head.
