The Icon Street is robust enough to be put in use daily. The 3 straps hold very well, I didn´t have any problems it sliding around at all. It needs some getting used how to position it properly othwerwise is the strap may a bit uncomfortable with a bend knee on longer rides, but it is easy to use outside any riding jeans, etc. and I can simply remove it, when I am just walking around. The D30 pads give a good sense of security but I am sure how they would perform in an actual crash. Still a considerable upgrade from having no protection at all!
