Activation:

• The jacket is released via a rip cord, which is firmly attached to the vehicle and is inserted into the jacket when climbing on. This ensures maximum reliability. An unintentional release by forgetting the rip cord when getting off the vehicle is very unlikely, because a force of about 300Nm is needed to activate the airbag. By replacing the CO2 cartridge, the jacket is immediately ready for use again after a deployment.
• 17-24 litres of protective volume are effectively distributed around the wearer's upper body in the event of an accident, thus providing protection: neck, spine, thorax, pelvis, coccyx, head, collarbone and internal organs. In addition to providing immense impact protection, the airbag stabilises the entire upper body against twisting. Already after 80-100 milliseconds the optimal pressure to unfold the protective effect. This time span has been determined on the basis of Helite's years of experience and numerous calculations and tests in order to provide the optimum pressure to protect the body at exactly the moment of impact. Important parts of the body are already protected during the release process, when the full pressure has not yet been reached.

• Like all Helite jackets with built-in airbag, the jacket features the innovative Turtle system. Here the Sas-Tec back protector lies over the airbag like a turtle shell in the event of a deployment. The spinal column remains free of any load and punctual forces are effectively distributed over the entire airbag in the back area and absorbed there. The protection is therefore many times higher than with a standard airbag.
