The Schuberth helmet range are indeed a high quality product I bought the C3 basic unit which although sounds like something you shouldn't buy because it's the cheapest in the range and therfore must be the one to avoid this is NOT and I repeat NOT the case. The Schuberth marketing people could do with re-thinking how they present their product to the world, the C3 basic is up there with the very best helmets you can buy, safe, quiet, comfortable, very high quality and well designed it won't disapoint its owner.
I use it on my Kawasaki Z900 and it's really good so I decided to upgrade it to bluetooth by fitting the specially designed Schuberth collar system that retailed at over £250 pre-Covid thinking it must be as excellent as the helmet, FC-moto had it on offer at half price over Xmas so I treated myself to it.
Fitting it was a bit fiddly and after installing it unfortunately I wasn't too impressed. The charging cable is quite long and there's nowhere for it to go, Positioning the ear speaker pads is tricky as they velcro in on sticky pads and go behind the lining on receces in the polystyrene so you either get it right first time or you have to buy more sticky pads I managed to get them close enough to work but the volume even on maximum is ok up to about 50mph but after that I struggle to hear the wife asking me when I'm coming back home to go shopping so I try to stay over 70mph whenever possible ?.
The collar buttons are ok to operate once you get used to where they are but the collar itself is obviously larger than the standard one and therfore tightens up the area around your neck making it a little stiffer to put the helmet on even though it's a flip front and the microphone takes all the available space between the chin guard and your mouth which is something your going to get used to or it will start really getting on your nerves I'm trying to get used to it ?
Is it worth the money and is it worth having then..?that's what you really want to know ? at over £250 full price I would say NO it makes the most comfortable helmet I've ever owned a bit uncomfortable.... at £130 what I paid I'm prepared to put up with the little inconveniences to stay in contact with the world of today.
I will say this though as a parting gift my friend has bought a Viper helmet available on eBay and it comes fitted with a bluetooth system, flip front and sun visor the quality isn't as good as the C3 but it's acceptable and the bluetooth system doesn't intrude into the interior like the Schuberth one does, I've used it, it's really good and comes in at less than £200 so I've ordered one and think I'll put the Schuberth back to standard.
