Merlin Barton II Motorcykel Vaxad Jacka

An excellent jacket for all motorcycle rides. I didn’t wear any of my other jackets during the entire last season — I rode only in this one. My height is 186 cm and my weight is 95 kg; I chose size XL and it fits perfectly.

The jacket is neither too cold nor too hot. It is quite substantial and dense. I always keep the thermal liner in my top case, and sometimes it really comes in handy. I also like how it looks on me.

I’m giving it 5 stars, although there is one inconvenience for me. The side pocket openings are a bit small, so I have to push my hand into the pocket with some effort, and pulling it out also requires overcoming some resistance.

Otherwise, everything is perfect.

A jacket that pairs perfectly with scramblers and naked bikes. Despite its refined classic sports look, it offers high waterproofing, insulation, and breathability. It handles Japan's spring and summer temperatures, as well as touring in mountainous areas, where temperatures can range from 15°C to 25°C. Even at 25°C, the breathability kept me comfortable while riding. While it lacks underarm vents, loosening the cuffs allows adequate airflow without flapping. Naturally, it includes a thermal liner for winter use. I also own a Belstaff waxed cotton jacket, but it lacks breathability; the Merlin design excels in this regard. I debated between the Parton 2, which has a similar design but uses lighter materials, but ultimately chose the Barton 2 because I liked its neck design, the treatment of the lower back, and the storm flap that enhances water resistance while riding. The Belstaff didn't have much smell, but the Barton 2 has a strong waxed cotton scent that might bother some people. It might settle down after some use.
I'm 168cm tall, weigh 70kg, and have a 100cm chest circumference; I chose size M. It fits perfectly since I wear full protective gear and additional mid-layers underneath. If you prefer a tighter fit, one size down would be better.
I was surprised by the delivery in just 3 days despite it being an international shipment to Japan. Thank you, FC-MOTO. Shipping cost was ¥5,400, customs duty ¥2,300, and consumption tax ¥2,600. Note these additional costs when ordering from Japan.

I just finished a 1.300 km trip in all weather, including heavy rain and this jacket is superb. I was dry and warm the whole time and very comfortable. I'm a huge fan of of Merlin products now, I have this jacket, trousers and gloves, all just plain great gear in high quality.
